I’m often asked to explain the difference between clinical psychotherapy and life coaching.
While not every therapist or coach’s framework will be the same, the main difference is the seriousness of the presenting issue.
Clinical Psychotherapy is suitable for people suffering to cope with a complex issue that necessitates a specialised, trained healthcare professional: therapy for issues such as PTSD, Trauma, Addiction/Substance Abuse, Eating Disorders, Suicidal thoughts, Major Depressive Disorder, and Personality Disorders would be out of the scope of what a Life Coach would offer.
Primarily clients see a Clinical Psychologist if they are seeking assistance with healing trauma, overcoming abuse, treating addiction, or treating mental illness. The ICF Code of Ethics includes imperatives for referring clients to other support professionals as needed; to that end, should a potential client present with these types of clinical issues, as a matter of professional integrity I will signpost them to relevant trained healthcare professionals to ensure they get the support they need.
Life coaching, however, is about helping clients to bring awareness to current belief systems so that they can decide intentionally how they want to live. Life coaches help clients to identify negative thought patterns and beliefs that are keeping them stuck, in order to create an action plan to achieve desired results. A masterful life coach enables the client to heal the past, re-program their mindset to eliminate blocks, and let go of unhelpful patterns of thought and behaviour so that they can radically transform their lives. Armed with a new mindset and loads of powerful tools, the client is able to take empowered control of their life so that they can thrive rather than merely survive.
Life coaches meet clients where they are: in the present. Life coaching doesn’t focus obsessively on the past, but rather seeks to understand the past in order to better understand the client’s present belief systems. Life coaches examine the past insofar as is needed to de-program old limiting beliefs so that the client can thrive – both now and in the future.
An analogy I use with my clients is this: Clinical Psychotherapy for a severe issue is akin to taking a specific medicine for a specific illness if you’re really unwell; Life Coaching, on the other hand, is akin to taking your vitamins, eating healthily, getting enough sleep, and ensuring you’re getting enough exercise so that you can live your best life. You can choose to ignore these things, and you’ll “stay alive” … but without these pillars of a healthy lifestyle you won’t be functioning OPTIMALLY.
Life coaching is perfect for people who want to learn how to move from feeling like they’re just surviving and into a place of THRIVING!

Clients who come to see me may present with emotional issues such as low self-esteem, but they are largely mentally healthy, functioning individuals; rather than dealing with complex abuse or trauma issues, clients tend to be just generally dissatisfied with one or more areas of their lives.

Coaching is not about laying on a sofa in a sterile, clinical environment.The coaching relationship is collaborative, with a shared goal of helping you get from where you are now (stuck) to where you want to be (thriving!)

All payments are processed via Stripe. Stripe Payments is an online payment processing platform. Millions of businesses of all sizes – from startups to large enterprises – use Stripe's software and APIs to accept payments and manage their businesses online.
Stripe powers the transactions of some of the biggest brands out there, including Lyft, Made.com, ASOS, Deliveroo, and Pinterest. (In fact, the company claims that 89% of all credit cards have been processed on a Stripe network at some point!).

For all services, full payment in advance of the initial session or block of sessions is required. I’ve implemented a ‘pay in advance’ system because after nearly 15 years in business, I find that the entire process goes most smoothly when clients pay in advance; it’s faster and easier for the client, and it eliminates the need for me to chase payments whilst reducing the likelihood of ‘no shows.’
Please note that a date cannot be secured without payment in advance, though I will tentatively hold a date for x1 business day for payment to be made.
After establishing an ongoing relationship, a payment plan or alternative method can be arranged for subsequent sessions if desired.

If you do not arrive for your session or sessions the payment made is non-refundable and non-transferable.
If you change your mind after paying for a package in full, prior to the services being rendered, you have up to 14 days to contact me to request a refund.
If, for whatever reason, you are dissatisfied with the service rendered, please contact me within 24 hours to discuss how I can make it better. My aim is for you to be absolutely delighted by your experience!

After you’ve successfully made an online payment, I will receive an automatic notification that you’ve paid. I’ll then reach out to you via email within 24 hours to book you in for your session!
If in the unlikely event you have not yet heard from me after 1 business day, please get in touch ASAP and we’ll get you booked in!
I’ll also send you an appointment reminder in the days leading up to your booking with all the relevant information (including appointment time, location, what to bring, etc.)
Please do make every effort to be on time for your booking. Whilst I leave ample time between clients to ensure a seamless experience for my customers, if you are more than 20 minutes late for your appointment time it may not be possible to proceed with your appointment or we may need to cut it short.
For every 15 minutes of delay when a Client is late for the scheduled time, a late fee of £20.00 will be charged or if the scheduled service exceeds the allotted time because of the Client delays.
If you cancel within 48 hours of the scheduled appointment time, the booking payment is non-refundable. Clients can contact me at least 48 hours prior to the booking time to re-schedule a new date and time.
Any advance payments made for services or gift certificates must be booked within 1 year; otherwise the fee will be forfeited.
